Men's Fit and Fashion

According to eHow.com, sportcoat is supposed to fit a man comfortably while the blazer should fit snuggly around the chest. The sportcoat should be worn over the buttoned shirt, with trousers of a different color for contrast, and sometimes a bowtie. In addition, it is acceptable to wear sportcoats with jeans and khakis. Blazers, on the other hand, are usually worn with the buttoned shirt as well, pants of a different color, and a necktie. For both jackets the collars should lay flat and a man should be able to lift his arms with ease.
In general, for ease of differentiating a sportcoat from a blazer, three types of modern blazers are identified in this text. The first one is the traditional blazer, which usually includes a club badge on the breast pocket and contains flap or patch pockets. The second one is the nautical blazer, which is dark blue color with golden brass buttons. It is usually made of the lightweight fabric and worn with white trousers. This kind is often seen on English Navy officers during official parades. Finally, colored blazers come in bright colors such as purple or red and are worn during casual meetings. Sportcoats are never made with breast pockets or come in bright colors and, therefore, they can be easily identified by men in the store during shopping. In addition, sportcoat are usually made of thick materials, especially cashmere, while blazers tend to be made of thinner types of wool.
